The effect of HBO2 was studied on 87 new-born infants delivered in asphyxia by caesarean section. HBO2 was started within 5 minutes of birth. For the first 15 minutes at a pressure of 3 ata on 1.5 - 1.3 ata for 1.5 - 2 hours. The long-term results were followed in 33 infants for 3-10 years. In only one child, at the age of 3.5 years, was epilepsy and deaf-mutism revealed. The remaining children developed normally. The inclusion of HBO2 in the resuscitation of infants delivered by caesarean section with asphyxia greatly reduces the consequences of neonatal asphyxia.
